The run - This is when all the hard work, hours of practice, miles of hauling, care and maintenance of the horse, mentor consulting, soul searching and mental training all pays off.........or not. As Ruby was rounding the first barrel, (pictured) the ground gave way ever so slightly and she slipped and stumbled a little, enough that as she regained her footing, the dreaded edge of the barrel was right there waiting and down it went. And in the world of barrel racing that is a 5 second penalty, where winners win by thousandths of a second, that is too much. Regardless, Ruby gave it her all, she just is that way, the biggest heart a talented rider like Cheryl could ever hope for! So on to the next one, you two are destined for greatness.
Thanks for all the positive comments, I've had fun with the Cheryl and Ruby series!
